Election Fraud – Arkansas

Posted by & filed under .

I’ve missed a lot of these, but I’m going to start keeping a record from now on.

State Rep. Hudson Hallum (Democrat), 3 Others Plead Guilty to Election Fraud

“The four men who admitted manipulating absentee voter ballots and votes are Rep. Hudson Hallum, D-Marion, Kent Hallum, West Memphis City Councilman Phillip Wayne Carter and West Memphis Police Officer Sam Malone, according to a statement from the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Little Rock.”

Libyan anti-air missiles in the hands of terrorists?

Posted by & filed under .

[Note: I had written this post back in April, but forgot to publish.  This happens when I decide to proof a draft later, but then forget about it altogether.  I'm attempting to clear out the orphaned drafts now, so there should be a few more new/old posts.]

From DefenseTech.org:

“Gadhafi’s loose SAM stockpiles don’t just include ancient Soviet-made SA-7s that  can barely find a target, they include the Russian-built SA-24 Grinch, one of  the newest and most advanced shoulder-fired anti-aircraft missiles out there.”

Unfortunately, Libyan weapons have already found their way to the terror groups Hezbolla and Hamas and possibly into the hands of Somali pirates.

Remember when the press was terribly upset about U.S. forces not doing enough to protect the museums in Iraq during Saddam’s fall?  Has there been anything comparable in the press about these weapons having been looted?  These, of course, aren’t relics, they are dangerous weapons that have fallen into wrong hands and I would think the press might show a little more concern.

Barack Obama vs. Mitt Romney

More spending vs. Less spending

More regulation vs. Less regulation

Higher taxes vs. Simpler tax code

Bigger government vs. Bigger citizen

- I will be voting for Romney.

My fear is that, even if Romney wins the election, we may already be too far down the road to avoid more serious economic problems due to our crushing debt.  Toss in economic slowdowns around the globe and it all adds up to some major hurdles no matter who wins.

Reduced government spending, reduced burdensome regulation, simplified tax code, increased market freedom,  and consistent reliable laws are what’s needed if we are to get back on track and increase growth in the economy.

Note to John Raese: Smoking bans suck, but aren’t Hitlerian

Posted by & filed under .

Republican John Raese jumped the shark and tried to kiss it full on the mouth.

From Politico:

I don’t want government telling me what I can do and what I can’t do because I’m an American.  But in Monongalia County you can’t smoke a cigarette, you can’t smoke a cigar, you can’t do anything.  And I oppose that because I believe in everybody’s individual freedoms and everybody’s individual rights to do what they want to do and I’m a conservative and that’s the way that goes.

But in Monongalia County now, I have to put a huge sticker on my buildings to say this is a smoke free environment.  This is brought to you by the government of Monongalia County.  Ok?

Remember Hitler used to put Star of David on everybody’s lapel, remember that?  Same thing.”

[-empahsis mine] No.  No it isn’t even close to the same thing.  Hey, I think smoking bans are way too onerous, but dammit man, they aren’t anywhere in the same flippin’ league as what the Nazis did to the Jews.  Why in the world would you trivialize what was done to the Jews?

I’m angry about this for two reason – First, it was obviously a foolish thing to say and belittles the serious evil perpetrated by the Nazis.  Second, it damages the Republican brand when our candidates go around sounding like a damned fools.

Sadly, Reaese doubled down when given a chance to walk the statement back and apologize.

“No, this is not a standard line, nor a misstatement.  It is a loss of freedom,” Raese said. “As Ronald Reagan once said, there is no such thing as partial freedom, there is only freedom.”

Wow, I think he qualifies as stupid on purpose.

Democrat Legislator wants former Vice-President Cheney executed.

From the TheMaineWire.com:

“Kruger made the statement through his Twitter account this past summer, saying, “Cheney deserves same final end he gave Saddam. Hope there are cell cams,”

(emphasis in the original)  – This past summer?  That would put this just months after the Tucson shooting that prompted many Dems to call for civility in public discourse.

I’m willing to give the fella the benefit of the doubt on this and assume he just made a very nasty joke without thinking it through.  The same sad fate will probably befall me if I continue with this blog long enough.  It’s just odd when a party that demands civilly calls for a member of the opposition to be killed.  Guess that’s why it’s news.
